I wasn't sure which of the two boards I should but this in since it deals with both copyrighted material and internet law. So I've placed it in both. I hope to get some good advice as I am new to how the copyright system works.

I am a member of an online community that deals in the discussion and research of a electronic game series known as Genso Suikoden. It’s a rather large site in which is professionally designed to help others interested in this game with excellent research material. We hope to grow even more with additional information regarding this particular game. I am not the administrator of this board, however, I have spoken with the administrator about the possibility of adding new information to this site that may, or may not infringe the rights of the game’s development house. The administrator and I are currently looking at a way to be able to provide a maximum information database that will be entirely legal. The administrator prefers not to do anything as of the present moment until further information about intellectual copyrights can be obtained, and the possibility of hiring an Attorney in the future for legal advice/protection of the site has come up. I had first thought about asking the development house, known as Konami for their permission to host information such as pictures, screenshots, and full motion video on a web site. I was later told that, this particular development house is one with very strict guidelines and most likely would not give me permission should I even ask them. I then looked into the possibility of “Disclaimers” and or referring to the material at hand as being under the “Fair Use” policy, as I am not giving this information away to jeopardize the sales of the game, nor make a profit of any kind. This is simply intended for added research material for others to view. To clarify exactly what I am wanting to display for others to view, this is exactly what I aim to post: A Japanese version of the game found on a select system that never made it to the U.S. which is rare even to find in Japan. This particular game is a director’s cut of the original game. The original game was massively sold both in Japan, U.S. and Europe. On this special edition game disc, contains content such as new movies and new places to explore. I would like to post these new features in both an mpeg., and gif. formats accompanied by explanations of what is going on in each picture. This would be for those to view as research material, since this game is almost impossible for most of the fans to find, and to my knowledge, is no longer sold by Konami themselves. My question is would this infringe the rights that Konami holds over this particular title, or am I properly utilizing the “Fair Use” copyright policy?
