What is the name of your state? new jersey

Yesterday when i walked into history class i noticed a digital video camera with a wide angle lens on it in the back of the room and the tech guy was attaching a wireless mic to the teacher. Then today i walked into math and yet agian the same setup was occuring. Both of these teachers are new and were be observed. I attend a public high school in new jersey. and my parents never did sign a waver for any video/photo occurance durning the school year that it would be ok. Is this illegal? and if it is do i have the right to leave the classroom if this is occuring?

It is not illegal so the minute you step out of the class you can be suspended.

I'm not going into why it's legal but if you want to do a search on this site for 4th amendment or high school, you'll learn a bit about your rights, or lack thereof .

As I said, do a search on this site or google for student 4th amendment rights and you'll learn. You don't learn anything from me giving you the answers.

The fact that they are videotaping you may be legal, but if you wanted to be a thorn in their side you might check into how exactly the wireless transmission is protected, if the data is stored in an appropriate manner and so forth. Because they are taping you in an educational setting their may be certain things they have to do to protect the data they collect (since it is in digital form and most likely stored on a networked PC).

And of course, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the question asked and in fact, is irrelevant.
