New York. Unmarried and in very contentious relationship with mother of my children regarding visitation. It looks as if the courts may have to get involved, however, I live in Brooklyn, mother lives in Staten Island. Where would I file any court papers, in Kings or Richmond County? Thanks.

I'm taking that to mean there are no current orders, and Mom has lived in Staten Island for at least the past 6 months. If that's the case, you file where Mom and the children live.

Makes more sense to me that you file where she is located so the local court has clout over her.

Besides, it's a short trip over the G_________ Gangplank. :D

(Ex NYer, couldn't resist.)
