What is the name of your state? Kentucky

I currently live in Ky, but my custody agreement is through Arkansas. My son's father has signed him up for some sort of talent agency, and now wants to send him to NewYork in July without a parent. He gives me no other info stating it is none of my business. He is also planning events during my summer and weekend visitation which is limiting the time I can spend with him. Is there anything I can do?

dad is pushing his luck

first of all, tell this jerk since it is YOUR son too, it is your business. second, i wouldnt reccomend sending a child to ny alone, too many things can happen(obviously he doesnt realize just how big nyc is, i sure wouldnt send my child there without a parent) third, if you have court ordered visitation, that takes priority over everything else. if he interfers, he can be cited for contempt. you better remind him of that fact.

It actually all depends on what your custody orders say, both about decision making and how your visitation is spelled out.

visitation

my son is 14 and yes we do have a court order for visitation. My order states only that custody was to change from myself to his father, my order is very vague. The only thing it really says is that I am suppose to have visitation every other weekend, alternating holidays, and 6 weeks in the summer (which are suppose to be my choice), but he says that this trip is planned and he cannot come until after this.

When your child does not show up for your visitations you need to file contempt of court against the father. If he comes after the talent thingie and still visits you for 6 weeks in the summer its not contempt, however sending a 14 year old to NY alone is crazy. Im not sure what you would do to keep that from happening, you could simply just go with your son, this could be a good opportunity for him if its for something that would be in the best interest of your child.

Somehow I doubt that the kid is going to NYC all by himself - more likely it is with the agency and will be supervised.
