My husbands ex just moved from IL to FL (which is where we also live). The divorce papers state visitation is reserved which she says means that she has the right to say when and if visitation occurs. There are no set times. She has only let us see the girls 2 times in 6 mths. How do we go about changing this? Also, we want to take them to church when we do have them and she says we cannot and that she can say were we take then and where we do not. Is this true? I thought she could only say something if we were taking them someplace that is endangering their safety. Please help. We are desparate to see them.

Your husband needs to file for a change in the visitation order. And contempt if she has discouraged any visitation in the past.

Retain an attorney, and try for a *normal* visitation schedule...Like every other weekend, holidays and summer time. The Mother cannot dictate what can and cannot be done when the children are visiting you and your husband unless in is unlawful or an endangerment to them. Almost all churches allow *visitors* at the church, and if you want to take the children to visit your church on weekends, there should be nothing wrong with that. Unless that is of course if the two religions are extremely different. Then, she may have a case. But *normally* church is church.

I highly suggest you retaining an attorney and filing for a set visitation schedule, if not she will dictate and control everything regarding that child for a long time. And that is not fair for you and your husband. That child deserves to have a continuous relationship with both parents regardless.

Good luck!

Dear PJstern...
I just wanted to let you know about a web-site called Fathersrightsinc.com. My husband and I are being brought to court in a week with his ex trying to take away some of his visitation time. We didn't have money to get an attorney and didn't know what his legal rights were as the father. This web-site is incredible and gave us a ton of info. The one thing it stresses is that you do not need an attorney! A retainer fee for an attorney would have cost us almost $2000 just to start. (And that's considered cheap compared to most attorneys) You can do this yourself. It gives sample mediation agreements and parenting plans..
Anyway...just wanted to let you know.
