at is the name of your state?Washington....I went to pick up my check at work about month ago to find that my wages are be garnished. I was not contacted by employer nor the agency garnishing my wages. The garnishment is for three bills..only one of which is mine...and is now paid in full. The other two bills are my soon to be exhusbands. The debts were accrued before I even knew him....IS THIS LEGAL???? Also...am I not supposed to be contacted before hand......so I can appeal it????Thanks :(

Just guessing..

I'm just guessing, but I would have thought the people who are grabbing your wages sent a lot of letters before this happened. They may even have had the courts involved. Perhaps your soon-to-be-ex was "editing" your mail.

First, ignore 'willing'..... he/she/it is just a forum troll apparently working to try to bump up the number of web 'hits' of that other site (in fact, he/she/it has already been warned of his conduct.... and will see about getting 'it' bumped for violation!).

As to your question.... yes, there were likely numerous attempts to resolve this matter prior to the garnishment occurring.
Contact your employer and get a copy of the garnishment order... then contact the court and review the casefile. It would be extremely unusual for you to have been sued without proper notice being served. Very likely that someone else got the notice.
After you get the FACTS to this matter, return here with the additional details and we will try to help..... on THIS site.

It might also be worth it to note that WA IS a community property state. However, if this debt was one he incurred before your marriage, and the account was NOT used during the marriage, then you shouldn't even be liable for it. So definitely get that case file as JetX told you.
