I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

You worked for a non profit. You installed stuff. I say you have a case against the non profit. BUT......think about the way it will look in court. Anyway to maybe try this as a tax rideoff? I am not being mean; I am just saying the time and money spent on getting your money may not be needed if you just use this one as a rideoff.

Talk to your local tax specialist. It may help. or try www.irs.gov

With all due respect to Lawrat....

Who did you work for?? Was their a written agreement for the work or verbal?? Did you use work orders?? Who directed your work??

In any case, you absolutely have a right to be paid for your work.

I don't care if the work was for the Pope personally, you need to be paid for the labor that you did (assuming it was acceptable). Document your case and file in small claims court. After you win your judgment, you can consider donating it to the non-profit.
