Illinois.
We have an NLRB election for a possible bargaining unit the last Friday in three weeks. The election was delayed while the company tried to keep one employee out. It already has been a month since we petitioned for recognition.

This group did not receive a raise last June, which is the time they are usually given. Because of this election, I am guessing the company is still withholding their usual (?) raises and “blaming” the union. This is small company that is part of a large corporation that is in bankruptcy (going on three years) while preserving bonuses.

Two questions: Can they give the “usual” raise now (June)? Or is that part of the “no promises or raises?” If we win the election, does their wage “freeze” until a first contracted is negotiated?

Thanks for your help. The company is taking full advantage of their captive audience. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Election on Friday

The company is contesting the union rep that did the organizing being an observer.

Our NLRB rep says the union side must be one of the potential bargaining unit people. The company is sending the HR person. Are we allowed three observers (co. union. unit)? What's the custom? Thanks.
