What is the name of your state? california

i want to hire a musician to play at a wedding. the venue requires that he have liability insurance, or that i sign a vendor waiver. he does not carry the insurance, although he has played this venue a hundred times with other insured groups. he is willing to sign a waiver himself, but the venue will only let me sign a waiver. if i sign a waiver to the venue, and he signs one to me, is that legally binding? is there a form for that? where would i find it? thank you!
