What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL
(Sorry for the typo in the subject line I don't know how to fix it)
Hi I'm a pretty non confrontational normal 22 year old graduate. Friday night I went to a bar in Lincoln Park in Chicago. I had a bit to drink before the bar and by 11pm I was extremely drunk. I was told by a bouncer that I was too drunk and I needed to leave. And that is reasonable. They did me a favor by calling the night for me. But after getting escorted out I was seperated from my friends and my phone was dead. My memory is extremely fuzzy, but I think I was trying to walk home probably a mile in length. I'm not even sure, but I think a couple police officers picked me up and gave me a ride home. The next morning my ID was in my front pocket rather than my wallet so I think they asked for it. I also remember telling them the address to my apartment.
My question is, if I was sufficiently drunk on a night its snowing would police officers give me a ride home? If they did is it possible I was charged with anything? I know public intoxication isn't breaking the law, but I'm just a little worried. Have you ever heard of police officers giving drunk people a ride home?
What should I do? Should I just not worry about it and obviously never drink like that again, or should I try to call somewhere and make sure I don't have a citation? My license has a TN address and I need to get it updated. I'm new to Chicago so I'm afraid if they mailed it to me then I wouldn't receive the ticket. My friends are telling me just to forget about it and not worry, but I just wanted some advice.
I am well aware that this sounds pathetic. I have never been this drunk before and it is the first time I can't remember things. I really wish I wasn't separated from my friends. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!
