What is the name of your state? ct
My 6 month old daughters father is on her birth certificate. He and I are not together. He starts a fight with me at least once a week about how he never wanted a child - I forced him into that, that he never wanted children. Last night he says he not responsible enough to be alone with her. says he does not want to be her father anymore, he thinks about killing himself. He says she is basically just another bill to him. He hung up on me saying, don't ever call him again - that he is done. Should I just leave it at that? I am afraid that he'll come around in a month, a year, and try to get rights - because he changes his mind weekly. Can he do that? Or is he basically abandoning her? Thus giving up his rights? There is no child support order.

You have already asked this question before except for the suicide part, what have you done in the last week to do anything? The suicide threat is a ploy, if you think he is truley suicidal, call the police when he makes the threat.

What to do?
Petition the court to establish paternity, when that is done, for custody and child support. Have the child support garnished through CSE. If he wants custody, or visitation he will have to petition the court for visitation or custody if he want's it and you can respond accordingly. You only have to abide by the court's orders. He can whine and cry all he wants to the judge. If he commit's suicide your child will be eligible for social security survivors benefits if paternity is established.

Paternity has already been established. I do not want any child support. My child is very well taken care of. I just want to know what to do otherwise. Do I leave him alone and rely on him not contacting us or do I have to get that legally enforced?

How was paternity established by signed affidavit ot DNA?
I think you are confusing his name on the BC with paternity, because along with paternity, custody is determined.
It sounds like you are trying to write all the rules.
Do what I said and the problem will be resolved, remember it is your child's best interest not your best interest or need to control. Don't make your child a pawn.
Get court orders for custody and Child support and let the judge decide, then you have something for law enforcement to enforce, until then you only have drauma.

I have also answered this post before....

In Ct, the affadavit for paternity is produced in hospital to unwed parents at the time the birth cert is done, Corrinna has already established that it was the paternity affadavit that was signed along with the birth certificate info.

in ct, when paternity is established BOTH parents are given equal rights to custody, meaning at his time, both corrinna and dad have presumed right to custody.

Corrinna, you need to contact the court in your county,(blue pages in the phone book) and see what it will take to pettion the court for LEGAL custody, and visitation, and possible support of your baby.

Do it today, OK?

This is your baby's money (for), not yours. Don't go into court playing this card.

Excuse me. I am not trying to write any rules - Or to control anything. I am trying to protect my daughter. Who is 6 months old. Paternity is established - He signed her birth certificate - DNA is confirmed. He is her father. My child is not being made a pawn. I allowed her father to see her whenever he liked - I did not take him to court to get paternity. We were doing it amicabaly - NOW, HE has decided that he does not want to be involved.
