What is the name of your state? Vermont, Believe it or not both my exes and I had a child support hearing the same day, same time. So, Can the office of child support during a hearing "represent" my exes? I know they are there for the kids, but this is what happened. The paralegal representing the office of child support put me in a position of defense by questioning my exes about the changes in the visitation, in which one ex lied and said I changed it, when in fact he was refusing me my time, this paralegal led my other ex into stating I was not seeing my child with him like I was suppose to, he failed to mention the reasons were due to my ex involving my child in sports which took some time from me. This paralegal also brought to the attention of the judge my income is higher and wanted to elaborate on that if the judge wanted to question raising my child support payments without any proof of income change. This paralegal also testified all the way back past 2 other court orders to 1999 to make me look like I was the problem without bringing up the issues on my defense. she also requested the courts to have both my exes together in front of the judge, and told me I had no choice, only the fathers could decide since they had custody. So guess what, my court time was in front of this judge with both my exes sitting together, and both cases done together. IS this legal?????????? This paralegal met with both my exes together in one room, and "only" handed me the new affidavit which was 2000 more than the one I received 2 months ago. They claimed it was surcharges tacked on. I found out after court one of my exes knows this paralegal, and the judge said he knew my ex, and I didn't think anything of it, I really thought this judge would be fair. I was not allowed to respond to the visitation lies, the judge didn't want to hear it, even though he let them have their say, the judge told me this is about support not visitation. I feel like I just got slammed royally by a falling truck. Do I have any recourse? Can I complain to someone in my state? My child support in the end did not change, and I was behind 2 months in 2003, and paid up until april of this year. I just got a job after searching this month, and my support is being paid now. I feel like I got gang raped in court. Please, any advice on what I can do???? This doesnt seem right what the office of child support did. Thanks Faith

It's not illegal. And given that your support wasn't bumped up, I'd sit down and be quiet.

If you're not getting to see the kids as ordered, then it's up to you to file about that youself.

Where was your attorney in all of this?

had no attorney. My big question is can they allow both exes to present both their cases in one procedure? I was told it was up to the custodial parent if they wanted to proceed together and I had no say. I was completely lost in which cases who was talking about what?

Somebody apparently filed a motion to consolidate the cases, which generally the court will do unless there a good reason not too. Had you made a proper objection and give the court a legal reason (case law support) not to consolidate the court may not have done it.

they consolidated the cases before the first case was to be heard. The office of child support requested it before the magistrate during the first hearing began, since they were at the same time in the morning. I did not want both cases together and was told I could not reject or make that decision only the custodial parent had that right.
