What is the name of your state? Illinois

Does anyone know what has to be done/filed to officially alter a visitation agreement? The visitation schedule in the planned parenting plan says, "liberal visitation as agreed upon by both parties,"....anyway the ex is taking my son and moving, so I want to set a new visitation schedule in stone, and have it filed with the court with the original planned parenting plan. If we both agree to a detailed schedule, can we both sign it, notarize it, and file it with the court? Is it easy to "file it with the court" or is there something else invloved?

You would need to file a "motion' to the court and attach a new parenting plan along with the original decree. If your ex petitioned for the original divorce you need to find out if your state is a state that makes her the 'petitioner' (even if by name only) on all subsequent filings so that the wording is right. (i.e My DH's ex filed the original divorce. He filed a modification recently but the ex remained the petitioner by name in the papers). The ex would be served and at that time a court date will be set and things will go in front of the judge. If she agrees to everything she can do so before the court date and the judge will know this is the case and it will be signed.

Are you agreeable to the move? I recommend making sure everything you want changed is in the motion and parenting plan and yes... keep out the words 'reasonable' and 'liberal'. Make sure everything is time set and in plain English. you can always do things a bit differently but you will have the CO to fall back on.
