our landlord is re-roofing our apartment. The roofers have had to stop due to the weather. this has left the roof exposed and it is now leaking through the roof onto the ceiling fan. And has left the carpet, soaking wet, and now is mildewing and smelly. This is in our childrens room which they are now not allowed to enter from all of this. The landlord will only provide buckets and says "Its out of his hands" and leaves us with this mess to deal with.
there are 2 buckets with water accessible to the kids, the ceiling fan\light cannot be used until replaced which will not be done til the repairs to the roof are complete which means no light or circulation in the kids room.also in the kitchen\dining room where carpet and linolieum meet the nail bar is worn, exposing nails and jagged tile edges which the landlord refuses to do anything about, even after 2 years of requests. we still have 2 months left on lease, can we break it without penalty? By the way- we live in Lubbock, Texas.
