What is the name of your state? NY
I bought a used car from a private owner in october 2004. 3 months ago my car started to have some problems and the simptom were always the same, when I parked the car it did not start. Every time I went in the same mechanic and he always changed something, saying: This time the car was fixed. And I repeat that the simptoms were always the same. Them today, after more than five times there, and more than $900.00 the manager told me that the car has a problem in the engine and to fix this problem, it will be more than a thousand dollar!
I decided to not fix the car, but I would like to know, as I haven't pay $300,00 yet that they charged me for the last thing that they fixed, if I can do something. Because it looks like they couldn't find the problem, and them changed a lot of unecessary parts, and now I have the car with the same problem!

Thanks

Unfortunately, fixing cars is not always an easy fix. I'm not trying to justify what the garage did, but intermitant problems or no- starts are sometimes difficult to repair. Sometimes there is a chain reaction, where a weak part causes problems to lots of other parts and it's difficult to find and fix. The bottom line is that it appears you have lost faith in your garage. Take your vehicle to the dealer and have them diagnois the problem.

After the 2nd time you should have taken the car someplace else. If you authorized the work to be done, you have to pay for it.
