I am staying in Washington State and since I've been here, I had a blown out tire one night after a couple of beers. The State Highway Patrol showed up before I could get my tire changed. He never saw me driving and the keys were not in the ignition when he arrived. I have prior convictions for DUI so when he asked me to take a portable breath test I told him I would rather not without asking my lawyer. So he had my vehicle towed and took me back to the outpost where he asked me several questions, asked me again to take the breath test, which I refused again, but never wrote me a ticket or read me my rights. He just told me where they towed my vehicle, gave me my license back, and called me a cab to get home. I picked up my vehicle the next day, but now I am starting to wander if I was charged or not. I'm staying in Washington state right now but my residence is in another state. How would I know or find out if I was charged with DUI or not? And how could I do it without unknowingly turning myself in??

Any information would be helpfull....Thanks.

i can see why you would wonder. in indiana, if you are picked up for a dui, your car is impounded, you spend the time in jail till someone bails you out, and they take your driver's license. well your car wasn't impounded, you didn't spend the night in jail (heck they called a cab), and didn't take your license? i suggest you have the status of your license checked by having a license branch check. racer 72? maybe he'll see your question and reply. oh and a last thought. you will think you were lucky if your license wasn't suspended. but it's not good luck for innocent drivers on the same roads as you. the officer did you a favor. not us.
