What is the name of your state? California
I have alwasy lived in CA and about 10 years ago, when I was young and dumb, I took off to Las Vegas, Nevada and married a man that was already married to someone else. I live in California and don't know if the laws are any different if you live somewhere but get married in another state. Was my marriage to him legally binding or would that marriage be null and void? I am currently engaged to a wonderful man and am afraid that I should get that first marriage annulled, if need be so that I can make absolutely certain that this current marriage is completely legal and valid. Help.
EDIT:
Basically I'm pretty sure by reading the law that my marriage was void from the start because he was already married, but it is necessary to get a judgement of nullity in order to make sure that when I marry now that all legal documents will show that the first marriage was null and void?

To be on the safe side you are better off going ahead and getting a divorce. If he was still married then it would void, however what if his other spouse filed and he wasn't aware of it, or it wasn't legal for some reason that could come up down the line. Then it would be legal. It's better to be safe than sorry.
