On October of 1999, my husband took our 98 ford ranger to get the transmission rebuilt, we paid for the repair at that time $1700, and received a receipt that stated it would cover for "full 12 months", 3 months later it broke down again, they repaired under warranty and another 3-4 months down the road again it broke down, this time they said it was another problem, and was going to cost us another $1600. Every time the truck has been taken in, it is because of the same issues "lights flashing" & you can feel the tranmission slipping. We felt like we were stuck and again paid the money they asked for. Since, the truck was "rebuilt" in october it has not worked properly. I can never get the owner of the company to return phone calls, or even get a true answer on who the owner is. Again, the truck got to the point that it couldn't be driven, this time we took it to another tranmission shop and had it repaired. We have had no problems since then. I want to get my money back from the initial tranmission shop but i'm unsure on what procedure to follow. We have contacted a lawyer who discussed small claims court and also explained the "Deceptive trades act" to us but, i am overwhelmed and not sure where to start. We went through the BBB but the Transmission shop lied in their replies and when a rep. at the BBB try to contact the owner he would never return his calls. I would love some direction on how to pursue this issue. Thank you, Becki (Dallas, TX.)
