Is it legal to charge a tennant for the water when the bill is averaged by size of apartment and number of occupants? Especially when the bill is averaged and not metered? I live in Oklahoma. Also, if you do have to pay, can you make payments like $10 per month?

well the answer is ...does it sound fair....?

charging by size and occupants seem ok...and as long as the landlord includes a copy of the water bill to prove the charges so she cannot make a profit on this....then its ok.

You have a legal right to see the water bill and figure it out for yourself, if she refuses then you can withold the water payment untill she does...but she will try and evict you, and the judge will ORDER her to show you the water bill and if the charges are correct and you PAY it in court the eviction proceedings are dismissed.

But the landlord would be a lot smarter to increase everybodys rent and pay the bill herself.

and YOU have to pay the bill IN FULL when its due...paying part of it violates your lease and makes you subject to eviction proceedings..

gotta stop spending so much on the garbage in your life!
