I live in California, and share a condo with a few other roommates. We've experienced water damage from a plumbing problem, and the landlord isusing fans to try to dry the wood. If that doesn't work, they're going to have to tear out a few walls and re-install some of the flooring. I like the landlord and have a good relationship. The noise from the fans is loud, but not intolerable. We can still use our laundry and shower, although the shower maybe off limits later, if they have to re-install new flooring. In that case, I'll shower at the gym. My question is...does the landlord need to give me a break on rent during this process? Do they have to pay for a hotel? What are my legal rights? I don't want to create an acrimonious relationship - we get along and the landlord is reasonable. My gut is to just go with the flow, but I'm wondering if I'm overlooking anything, which is why I'm here. Thanks for reading.
