Jennifer,
This link is for Califonia's court system,
http://www.saccourt.com/family/support/support.asp
but it does define "Order to Show Cause" and explain a few other things, so I thought it might be helpful to you. I can understand your situation, my ex is nearly $15,000 in arrears also. The Department of Child Support in California is handling my case, and they can only do so much, and he doesn't care since mommy and daddy have bought him a house, a car, and everything he needs all in their name so I can't touch it. The Department of Child Support Services in California has put a lien on his parents property so when they die, before he can get his inheritience(sp? I even used a spell checker (IAAL....I know your anal, but still the best!) and it is not catching it! Either it's right or wayyyyy off), what is owes to me will be given to me. Maybe there is something similar in your state that you do if you've exhausted all other avenues.
Good luck to you!
