:( What is the name of your state? i live in Idaho, my child will be 17 in 2 wks
and just went to state custody 2 days ago. i guess they have to have certain charges before they can send them, but i don't think she really qualified. i received legal doc yesterday and they marked (crime could have resulted in serious injury to others, and reckless regard for property to others.
she snuck out her window. i know about the juvenile act which pretty much gives probation the right to do anything they want. we have been stripped of
our parental rights for 3 years now. what are our rights? i need help.
she is a sweet, but mixed up girl, but doesnt belong in the disgusting place
they sent her. She was sentenced with state custody in july 2003, suspended, then she ran from a treatment center in sept 2003 and the Judge
sent her to custody again, but did let us put her in a treatment center for 4 mths, which she completed. she has had 1 dirty U.A. in 14mths, and has not ran again since the treatment center in 09/03. Has had a few probation violations for drinking. Just had her best report card she in 3 years. She was put on probation 3 years ago for out of parental control because she wanted to come home early from weekend at Dads. Had never been in any trouble.
They just wont let you out of their system in this town. When I wanted her to go to summer school, they sent her to a program called ISP. Intense Supervision Probation with dropouts and problem kids. I did not want to send her to the treatment place she ran from, I had found one that worked on behavior and self esteem, and not with kids she knew. Probation forced me.
They even tried to talk us into having her get a G.E.D. Now that is smart.
Lets take her out of school so she can have more idle time. Can we appeal this? If so, do we have any chance? I think the Judge marked all the boxes on that document because she really didn't meet all of the qualifications for State Custody. How can I find out?

If she is charged with a crime, you can hire an attorney. That may be about it at this point.
