What is the name of your state? FL

I'm fighting for custody of a child I had with a woman I never married. She and I are both remarried and the child is 4 years old. I feel as though I could provide a better home for our child and a better lifestyle. Together me and my wife are pretty wealthy, owning a 5bdrm 5 bath, $463,000 home. My ex lives in a nice apartment 2bdrm 2 bath in a good neighborhood. Neither one of us has any other kids. My child has been appointed a GAL who has met with both the mother and I. What are my chances of getting custody? Currently she has full primary custody and we have joint legal.

I would also like to add that our court order was done in AL, she and her husband had to move to Florida for his job and My wife and I also moved to FL to be in the same town as my daughter. Our case is still in AL though becaues of the fact that it was started there.

Depends on what the GAL says.

Simply from your statement that you're wealthier, the answer would be "no" as it is not a grounds for a change in custody.

Also, generally there has to be a fairly significant change in circumstances for a judge to consider changing an established custody situation. A custody change is generally very disruptive to a child, and therefore a judge (or gal) wants to see enough of a reason to make the custody change more important than not disrupting the child's life......particularly a very young child.

I will echo the other poster in regards to the fact that wealth is irrelevant....as is marital status.
