What is the name of your state? CA
I am a member of organization which is an entity of the City of LA. A member of City of LA oversight department for this organization made a slanderous statement in a public meeting. Can I sue and do I sue the individual or the City of LA?

A great many people do not fully understand what does and does not constitute slander. What was the statement?

The statement was _________ was responsible for the organization not receiving the money. Our organization has a fiscal procedure and an application for requesting money. The organization requesting the funds did not comply with the procedure and thus the money was not given to them. I do not have authority to give or deny funding to anyone. THat authority rests with the City.
