What is the name of your state? Oklahoma, Hi. I was wondering what my options are on this matter and if I have any legal standing to press charges. I have been at my job for three months and was considered seasonal part time. My workplace hired me with the knowledge that I was four months pregnant, they also had told me that if later in my pregnancy, if I had pregnancy complications, with a doctors note, that any restrictions would be accomidated for.
The last two weeks at my workplace I started haveing pre-labor contractions which made me unable to work for a few days but i presented doctors notes for each day that I had missed. On monday of the last week that I was employed there I had to leave work because the contractions started again. i went straight to the doctor and he put me on medication to stop me from going into pre-mature labor and gave me work restrictions. My restrictions were as follows: Can work a maximum of 6 hours per day, must sit for at least 4 hours. I called my HR manager the following day to present her with this information. When I returned to work on Thursday I then handed the HR manager and my store manager the note from the doctor stating my restrictions and they fired me because they could not meet these restrictions because I was not permanent part time. Note: I am a cashier who knows how to run every type of register except for customer service, and I know for a fact that my workplace had met the same restrictions for other associates that had worked with me. They met these restrictions by placing a stool in returns so that when there were no customers in that area that the cashier was permitted to sit. I'm not sure why they couldn't have done the same for me. So now I'm about 6 weeks away from delivering my baby and am jobless. Is there anything that I can do about this matter and if so what are my options?
Thank you, nirvanaray85

sorry

I am not legally challenged lol but i have learned from this site that a doctors note does not guarantee them to let you continue to work for them. There really is nothing you can do except look for other work,i am sooooo sorry! Please rather than listen to me though, listen to the senior members that work here because they know everything for sure and i could be missing something...good luck to you and your baby!!
