I live in the UK but bought my wedding dress and bridesmaid from a shop in New York. The dresses were ordered in October 2008 and arrived on the 18 February 2009.
When we received the package we noticed that the style number of the wedding dress was correct but it was not in the colours that I ordered, it was also a size too big. I contacted the bridal store in NY and they said they were sorry but they had indeed ordered me the wrong one. If I sent back the dress (at my own cost) they would order me a new one and post it to me but it would not arrive until June 2009 (my wedding is July 2009). I said that I could not risk doing this as I did not trust the company to get my order right. I advised them that I had found someone in the UK who was prepared to alter my dress, but it was going to cost £200 ($288) and would they be prepared to pay for the alterations. They said that they could not give me this and they would give me £50 ($75) compensation, I accepted this as it is better than nothing.
I have since found out that they have sent me the wrong size bridemaid dress and I now have to try and sell this and purchase a new one. I contacted the bridal store again to tell them this and asked if they could "up" there compensation to me (as I have yet to receive anything) and they are now not replying to my emails.
Please can someone tell me what I can do to try and reclaim the additional money I am having to spend to rectify a problem that the bridal shop in NY caused that should not have happened if they had checked the order before requesting it from the designer.
Thank you
