We have owned this property outside of Franklin Ohio for 5 years. We breed collies. The house to the south of us is rental property. The neighbors that lived there a few years ago harassed our dogs constantly. Then one Sunday afternoon they shot our one dog, in our back yard. Our .5-acre backyard is fenced in with a 6' chain link fence with locked gates. We called the sheriff. They came out and filed a report. They went next door and took a gun that had just been fired of the correct caliber from them. I took the body to the vet and had x-rays and an autopsy done at my expense. The vet said the bullet had severed the spinal column. So where she lay was where she was shot. She was shot in the front corner next to their side door. We never could find the bullet so they said they could not prosecute. Well I told the landlady and she did nothing. Well they finally moved out. Another family moved in for a year. Everything was fine. They moved out and now the new renters are harassing my family, my dogs, and us. They ride their bikes or walk by our fence; their drive is on the other side of the property, and yell at us. Say dirty things to all of us. Tell us to shut up. Flip us off. Call us bad things. Call us stupid, jerks, a*******, fu*****, and worse. We have never done a thing to them. We never said a word to them until recently. We only wanted to be left alone. They throw rocks at our dogs and us. They kick and throw things at my fence, which is 5” inside my property line. The one-day they had a bb rifle over they’re shooting it all over the place including each other and us. I asked them to quit. They kept on. I threatened them with calling the sheriff. They ignore me. I called the landlady. Told her what is going on. Nothing has changed. They throw garbage on our yard. This is not just the kids. It is the parent also doing this stuff. They have dogs that they let run loose. When we did it before the fence we were told there is a leash law and if we don't keep them restrained we would end up in court. I spent $3000 for the fence. But when I called them on them for it and no license I was told, unless they see it they can’t do anything. Yesterday they had a conversation and spoke loud so we could hear them. In fact we could not ignore it, they made threats of killing our dogs. My daughters are 14 and 17. I had to run some errands. While I was gone the mother came to the fence and told my daughters they need psychologist. She then said that they need supervision and was going to call the sheriff. She had gotten very belligerent with them. She continued on screaming at them. All they were doing is working out in our garden, weeding it. I am right now still recovering from being unemployed and do not have any money for any legal action. I have only mentioned a few things they have done. This k9ind of stuff and worse happens almost all day and part of the night. I am at my whit’s end with this. Complaining to the landlady does no good. The sheriff and dog warden wont do anything. We are fed up and frustrated. HELP!
-What can I do?
-Is the landlady responsible for what is going on since she owns the property?
-Can the landlady be threatened with legal action also?
-When they start yelling at an7y of us, what can I do or say?
