What is the name of your state? AZ
In Oct. of 2003, I paid off my auto loan. I sold it a few days later, as soon as I recieved the title an lien release. I also recieved a check for about $7, that I had over paid.
This last thursday, I got a phone call, at work, from a lady saying she represented some law firm in reguards to my past due account with Ford Motor Credit. She said I still owed them $1,100. I said that this was the first time I had heard about any past due amount. I told her that I had paid off that account. She said something about reposessing the truck, I told her that I had sold it 3 years ago and she became very angry. She asked how "I got away with that". I explained to her about the title and lien release being sent to me.
I wa at work and asked for her number so I could call her back. She got meaner and ruder, and I explained that my employer was very strict about no personal calls. She then told me if she did not hear back from me in 24 hours, that the next time I heard from her, She would be calling me at work again to inform me that I was going to be served.
I am currently trying to get ahold of my bank statements from that time. I have moved out of state and back, plus to a few other residences in that time. I can no longer find my copy of the lien release or any of the other papers.
What else will I need?? Or am I just screwed? Thank you for your help.
