I just have a question for you. I moved to Massachusetts in Oct 1999. My husband and I were to move together, but once I arrived out here, we stopped talking. It just wasn't meant to be. I have spoken to him twice since then, the last time being in Mar 2000. The last time we were physically close was early Oct 1999. I would like to get a divorce, but I don't know what I should do, or if there is anything special I need to do because of the lack of communication. Also, I have no idea where he is at this point in time. Thank you for your time.

My response:

1. You can usually obtain a free intitial consultation with a Family law attorney, and discuss the potential for representation.

2. You can also buy a "How To" book at your larger bookstore, and start the ball rolling yourself.

All instructions and situations, like yours, are discussed in such books.

Good luck to you.

What do you mean, a 'How To' book? Let me guess, they have books like 'Divorcing for Dummies'??? Thanks muchly for your help. Now I'm on the hunt for a lawyer. :)

My response:

As a matter of fact, there is such a book - - amongst the many others on the subject.

But, you needed to be told to see an attorney ?

I did not need to be told to see a lawyer, I just have never filed for divorce before. I didn't know if there was anything I should know since he and I aren't together. We don't even live in the same state...

Speaking of which, any idea as to what the laws in MA are about different state residencies-filing?
