What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state?WA, Mom is realy sick she is on a ventilator now for 24 days in an ICU unit. Today they told us that the best thing to do is to get to tube our of her mouth and put it throug the throat. That is surgery, they told us she is up to it???? Dont know about that yet. My husband who is the son already signed a few papers for procedures they wanted to do but now that she has ARDS we dont know. This is surgery. so we asked the oldest brother what he thinks and he said we can sign, but he is also afried that the other brothers maybe can sue us for signing if something might happen. If we dont sign the doctor told us that they will give her extra help to make her breath but after a few days the tube will be removed and she will survive it or die, its a hard dicision to make for us. Mom doesnt have a POA or a living will. She told the doctor that if something would happen to her she is willing to be on a breathingmachine but not for weeks on end. We want to give mom a chance, but what if the other brother want to sue us? The youngest brother already is very negative about everything they did so far. Please help us

If you are fearing reprisals then you need to do two things:

1. ask the doctor for a list of others for a second opinion.

2. file for emergency medical conservatorship for your husband. This needs to be done immediately.
