My character has been dragged, smear campaigns, people speaking on things about me that they should not be as if it's okay. It seems as if a game is being played and I'm the main event, but not in a good way. Kind of like the Truman show with a bad twist. I am not a threat to any one in any way. I mind my business. I have no legal issues, am not in court, not affiliated with any thing that could be causing this. My childs father is all I can think of. I am a single Mom and haven't made the best decisions in the past. Whatever is going on it seems to be like a weird narrative that someone wants me to accept as true. Kind of like an agenda is being pushed that I'm supposed to accept. The only thing is that I don't resonate with it. The stalking, harassment from random people I do not even know. It is sad to know there are people like this in the World. I'm aware that evil forces exist and all. However, from a legal standpoint this would be what?

SayIt443, have you posted to this forum before under a different username (perhaps under the name “TheLegalOwl)?

A belief that random strangers are stalking and harassing you is unusual and could indicate a need for a mental health evaluation rather than an appointment with an attorney.

Hi Quincy,

Thanks for responding. And no, Sir. I have never posted under that name at all. I did post here maybe a year ago regarding a different issue and received good advice... from you I believe... that helped me combat that.

I had an evaluation and have been cleared. I thought it weird that people may be doing this so that was the first step. I went to another therapist and they told me I was fine. I went to another and they told me to speak to the police. Sheesh.

Most people do not want to get involved with these matters. I understand.

Quite frankly, if you don’t know who is stalking or harassing you (and you have already met with a therapist to check on your mental health), I don’t know what an attorney can do. An attorney can’t help you get a restraining order against an unknown person or persons. And the police cannot arrest an unknown person or persons for stalking.

Do you think you might be able to identify any of the random individuals sufficiently so the police could make some inquiries?

Hi,

I hear you. I do my best to stay as safe as possible. There recently was an incident that was evident and caused a few people that saw it to be concerned. They told me to make a report, but I declined.

I just do not understand where this is coming from and what it could be. There has to be a name for this type of behavior. I do not want to rely on theory or assumption alone.

What legal recourse is there following something like this?

Its more annoying than anything and I'm just feeling bad for the people who take part in this type of behavior. The woman at the store has the video of the incident. How is this handled without causing a fuss?

Ok, since you've already checked out your mental health (which is a good idea even if just for help convincing others that you do in fact have a real problem) your legal remedies basically comes down having the person(s) arrested and charged for the harassment, getting a restraining order against the person(s) involved, and suing them for money damages you've suffered from their acts (including emotional distress damages and costs of any mental health treatment you've had to get to treat any anxiety and or depression you suffer from this stalking).

The problem with all of those, which quincy pointed out, is that you first have to identify the person or persons that are doing this stuff. That means getting some information and evidence that will help identify the people involved. An attorney who handles personal injury cases may be able to help advise you on things you can do to get that evidence. You might also consider hiring a good private investigator (PI) to do that work for you. The fee for a PI isn't cheap, but you might be able to recover those fees from the lawsuit against the the harassers (if the lawsuit is successful). That's something else you'll want to ask the attorney about.

Don't be reluctant to get therapy to help you cope with mental toll this activity is taking. There is large part of the population that gets some kind of mental health therapy at some point in their lives. It's not at all unusual. People still think of getting that kind of help as a stigma and as a result refuse to get the treatment. However, today with so many people seeking therapy it isn't the huge stigma it was a century ago. Your health insurance may pay at least part of the cost of that therapy.

You might have to cause a fuss if you want to find any relief from the harassment. Call the police.

Otherwise I suggest you ignore what you can and just go about your day.

I do not see any reason for you to see an attorney at this point.

Hello,

Okay. Thank you for adding onto to this. It is very much appreciated!
