I live in Florida. I just got hired at a new job after putting in my two weeks notice at my old one. My ex-boss and an ex-coworker had it out for me since I put in my notice. After I left I didn't tell them which new place I was going to. After one day my new job got a phone call from my ex-employer telling them that I had done three things that I really hadn't done. My new employer confronted me about it and I obviously denied because the allegations were false. I need to know if this is considered deprevation of character or if it's not and if it is then what I need to do from here.

I'm assuming you mean defamation of character. Even if it was defamation, could you prove it wasn't true? could you prove your old employer made it up? Even if all that was true, what damages have you incurred? The amount of money you pump into a defamation suit will not produce fruitful results, even if you win. Sorry.

You would have to find out exactly what was said about you and by whom.
If the statements are true, there is not much you can do about it. If the statements are false, then you would have to prove that you suffered damages by the statements made. I am sure you heard this before, DEFAMATION SUITS ARE LONG DRAWN OUT AFFAIRS AND VERY EXPENSIVE!!
Even if you feel you proved your case in a court of law, in the end you may still loose.. These cases are tricky and you never know what the Jury will conclude..
