My finace and I are petitioning the court for permission to move out of state with her kids. We are aware of what the judge will require to grant her permission. Question is: what is legally admissable in court to proove that she has an opportunity for substansially better employement (which she has, we just need to proove it) and to proove that this will give her the capacity to provide for them a much higher standard of living? We are aware that letters are not admissable.....will the judge call the employer? Also, they want proff that we are engaged and getting married (i live out of state), how can we proove that? She has the ring....but once again, I cannot send a letter.......any hel;p would be appreciated...

My husband has a really good sheet that he made up when he moved it was a comparision sheet between the town he lived in with kids and the one he wanted to move them to. It told everything from crime rate to living costs to how much he is making.
As far as proving you are engaged, if you plan on doing it soon apply for a marriage license and take it to the court. I think in my state they are good for 30 days but if you don't use it in that time you can reapply for one.

I am not an expert at all but I have gone thruogh this myself. I did all the research of the relocation myself and when i was asked by the judge i said it like this "I learned by doing the research" I had figures from the internet that really helped out. i also was engaged at the time of the hearing and the only thing I can tell you is that if you testify a specific date in court that is when you better do it or the other party can take you back to court. I believe I had a more creditable character than my childs father. If you can prove that it is going to be in the "best interest of the child" and explain it that way the judge usually listens. And I am not sure if the Judges are the same in your area but you are in family court and the one thing I learned was that Judges do not like mud slingers.

I hope this helps.
