we are from tn and my father has been diagnosis with bipolar disorder. in aug the physicians at the mental health facility that he goes to placed him on effexor as a miracle drug but didn't discontinue any of the other meds that he was taking. he experienced severe side effects including disorientation and depression severe enough that he shot himself. at one hospital he was admitted to the nurses refused to give him one of his prescribed meds and he had a severe episode and was transported to another facility where he was taken off the effexor. does he have a lawsuit over this treatment

Venlaflaxine is used for treatment of major depression. It is a relatively new drug and there is only the pharmaceutical company's protocol on which to rely. Apparently, although there is a very long shopping list of adverse effects, your father's doctors probably thought his symptoms were so severe that it was worth trying. Do you have a case? In my opinion-No.
