What is the name of your state?Oregon Please read and explain what the following means, I am confused as to what it is really stating. Thank you.

7. Effect of Remarriage on Support Orders
Question: If the parties to a support order remarry, how does this affect the support order?
Answer: It depends. If support was ordered per a divorce decree, the remarriage terminates the support
obligation. If support was ordered per a NFR/PNFR, the support obligation does NOT terminate upon
the parties’ remarriage.

The above was taken from The Division of Child Support Advisory Memorandum July 17,2002 Amended November 9, 2005

I need to know what NFR/PNFR means as well. Your help in this matter is greatly appriciated. Thank you again

I'm sure someone will come along that knows what NFR/PNFR means, sorry I don't. But it looks like this section is referring to a remarriage between you and your ex, not with someone else. Getting remarried to someone else doesn't terminate a child support obligation.

Like the previous poster, I don't know what NFR/PNFR means, sorry.

I do agree though that this section applies to the remarriage of the parents to each other. Looking at the wording- " If the parties to a support order..." it seems that if this applied to either party's remarriage it would be worded something like- If a party to a support order...
Also, as was stated, a remarriage of one parent to someone else, NEVER terminates a suuport order.

According to the glossary available on the Oregon Division of Child Support website, NFR means notice and finding of financial responsibility; PNFR is proposed order for notice and finding of financial responsibility.

IOW-if support was ordered by divorce decree, remarriage of the same parties cancels the support order. If support was ordered by a separate court order or adminstrative order via DCS, it is not canceled by the remarriage, it must be requested for the order to be stopped.

BTW-if part of the support order was back to the State because one party was receiving TANF or medical assistance--it won't be canceled until the State is paid back.

Google is your friend!!
