I am in California.

I'm applying for a few jobs at a company website and noticed a few of the positions have the following:

This notice is being provided as a result of the filing of a permanent alien labor certification application for this job opportunity. Any person may provide documentary evidence bearing on the application to: U.S. Department of Labor/ETA 233 Peachtree Street, NE Suite 410 Atlanta, GA 30303

All such postings have vague job description details and requirements. I find it funny that not all job postings have this. Can anyone explain the significance of this statement? Thanks in advance. :)

It means that they want to obtain PERM labor certification for an applicant (such as H1-B). The process requires that they search in house and with the public for a person already authorized to work in the US that can meet the requirements. Not all the requirements for the position need be in the advertisements, but usually the requirements for the job are pretty specifically written for the applicant they are trying to employ. The notice is one of those things that keys most people into realizing that it's a waste of time to apply because they're not really interested in hiring anybody else (it's not supposed to work that way, but that's the way it is).

Thank you FlyingRon! I kind of had a feeling that was the case. I would call that false advertising. I see so many job listings from this one company in particular. Seems unfair and misleading as it's not really available for others who are "authorized to work in the US". Shaking my head at that. Thanks for the info. :)
