It was not an adoption, that is why I am confused.
I had to go to the courthouse to pull my file. I have to file a motion and was confused about the paperwork. "You file a motion to modify, but you don't get a hearing until you file a motion for a hearing to go with your motion to modify"
Anyway, while I was there... I made a comment about filing this
modification motion that I was told to file by the child support office even though my ex does not pay, has been in jail for it... has not had a job for 3 years, has not seen minor child for 2 years, no contact with minor child for 2 years.. still has drug problem, in jail several times for that... blah blah...
So.... of course I made the comment I wish I could terminate her rights... AND I was told.... "
not unless DSS takes the child, or you get the minor child adopted".....
ok...
so you guys have said it a million times....
Today, I was looking for some wording to answer ProSe about his post and I coulda swore it was in this particular case, which IS a custody case... in fact the grandparents are granted custody of the child. And in the file, it says Consent of Natural mother...
The father of the child complained to the maternal grandparents who have custody and another order was filed that said "amended order" "Consent order filed". In that order, the one I saw... it gave the
father of the child and his parents (which in the order were listed as THIRD Party)
shared legal custody and liberal visitation as agreed upon by both parties...
According the father of this child and the THIRD PARTY, the mother of the child is awful (even though she has not done one tenth of what my ex has done).... AND according to them.... she was asked to sign a consent so she would not have to pay child support.
So.... when I saw consent of natural mother... I wanted to know what that
really means...
In researching.. I am assuming this means she signed a consent for her parents to have custody?? Have you ever heard of that before? The only example on the internet I could find was a consent for temporary custody.
