What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OHIO
Hello all,
I am reaching out to this community in hopes for solid advice. I purchased a Bluemax GEN4000B Generator from www.bluemaxdirect.com. (Interestingly enough this website doesn’t seem to open for me any longer.) Anyhow, I purchased my generator in early October 2008 at approximately $500.00. It was promised to ship in 2 weeks, but officially arrived Late December 2008. I suppose this should have presented a red flag from the start, but I let it slide. In addition, there was a free wheel kit that was promised, and I have yet to receive it. This is of a $50.00 value.
I started the generator for the first time March 7 2009. The generator started just fine, but was outputting too many volts. I emailed Bluemax the moment I knew something was wrong. Here are the contents of my first e-mail:
“Hello my name is So and So. My girl friend So and So and I purchased a JD4000 generator from your company in October 2008. The generator was delivered close to the end of December 2008. Today I started the generator for the first time. The generator starts fine; however, it is outputting too many volts. The generator is rated at
120v and is outputting 200v. I thought maybe I could lower the idle, and fix the problem, but that didn't work out. The lowest voltage I could get was 150v before the engine started to idle rough. I believe the problem is the voltage regulator has gone bad. I purchased this item in good faith, and so far I have had nothing but trouble. The generator came later than expected, we have yet to get our free wheel kit and now the generator is outputting too many volts. My expectations at this point are that someone will repair this product at no charge to myself, or I would like to return the generator for a full refund. I look forward to resolving this issue as soon as possible.”
I received a response March 9 2009… Here are the contents of the e-mail:
“I understand your frustration. It does sound like the voltage regulator is bad, I will send out a new one this week.
Believe me I would love to send out the wheel kits, unfortunately my supplier hasn't sent them to me yet. I have about 50 sets ordered and paid for, but we are awaiting their arrival from China. I have arranged to have yours dropped shipped directly from my supplier when they arrive.”
March 30th I replied to this e-mail. Here are the contents from my reply:
“Clearly you do not understand my frustration. I have patiently waited for the voltage regulator, and nothing has come in the mail. At this point, I would like to discuss steps to return the product that I can't use. I still have the original box it was shipped in. My expectations are we will ship this item back to you just as it came to us, at no cost to myself. We have had heavy rain, and I just can't risk a power failure at the expense of the paperweight sitting in my garage. My basement will literally flood if a power failure happens while there is rain. That was the whole purpose of purchasing this product, and I can't allow the run around to continue. What information do you need to refund my money + Shipping? Where do I ship this item?”
I never received a reply to my last communication with Bluemax. So I now have a $500.00 piece of equipment in my garage that I cannot even use. Not to mention, I have put more money into a system that ties this generator into my house power. I don’t know what else I can do. Any suggestions are most welcome. I appreciate your feedback!
