What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

I had a car start on fire today in my garage. The car was not in drivable condition as I had just bought it and was getting it ready for the road. I managed to control the fire enough while waiting for the fire dept. to arrive that the flames didn't spread to the rest of the garage. I called my insurance carrier and was told that I would have to contact the auto insurance company to make a claim on everything. Since the car wasn't on the road yet, and it wasn't going to be for quite some time, I haven't yet put it on the auto insurance. Am I out of luck or is the homeowner's company just trying to pass the buck?

Does your homeowner's insurance say it covers motor vehicles or fires started by motor vehicles?

When my parent's furnace started on fire, homeowner's insurance would not cover it. Even though there was smoke damage (just an odor), the fire really only damaged the furnace, so they considered it a "friendly" fire (contained within the appliance).
