What good is Uninsured motorist coverage

Ok, my hubby was in an accident with an uninsured motorist. We had liability with uninsured motorist coverage that covers only bodily injury. We sent the paperwork and the bills to our insurance compnay, but yesterday we recieved a bill from a collection agency on behalf of the hospital. What do we do. Should we pay off the collection agency and seek reimbursment from the insurance, or should we just hold tight?

Call the ins company

and ask them.As far as the hospital is concerned you are responsible for the bill.Pay the bill if you can.Then collect from insurance.

Uninsured Motorists

As much as I hate to advise this, you will need to get an attorney to get the Uninsured Motorist claim moving. At least, I have never seen an insurer willingingly open it up and tender limits, or much of anything under U/M unless you are talking VERY serious, long term hospital, permanent type injuries. It's unfortunate because I think they should work more with their insured's. But,
that' s my recommendation....and let the hospital know that you are pending insurance, I am sure they will either work with you on a small monthly payment, or hold it. But, it will take a while to settle as a rule, so as in the prior post - pay the bill if you can but send them on to your insurer. Did you exhuast all other medical coverages? Another reason you may want an attorney is because if you have to use your health insurance it is possible that they will want their $$ back when you settle. Good luck.
