What is the name of your state? WI

Hello,

I tried searching this forum for a long time but I couldn't find what I needed. So, I just started this thread.

This is the link to the other thread where I have explained my situation in great detail --> https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?t=281887

I have hired an attorney who would be working with me to help me out of this trouble. I have an appointment with him next tuesday. Can someone please telll me what questions do I have to ask my attorney and what are the things that I need to be careful of ?

Also, this is a first offense case with a BCA content of .06 and 3 of the 4 field sobriety tests cleared (except for the eye test according to the deputy officer). The court hearing is set on the 18th of November.

I have never seen a court in real life at a close range ever before.

Could someone explain to me the proceedings that are carried out in the court for such a case and what exactly happens? Will those people be very rude to me? Will they let me talk and hear to what I have to say?

Apparently, there is also a eye witness in this case who actually called the cops on me. I am presuming that, that person will also be called to the hearing. And I am also the enemy of this public prosecutor who will be handling the case and the deputy officers themselves.

I am already nervous about all this. What should I say or not say? Should I be concise or should I tell everything that happened from A to Z. I dont have any idea.

Also, could you please throw some light on the consequences? The best that can happen to me or the worst that can happen to me which I hope wont happen :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
djay

I read your case. Question, how old are you? I'm pretty sure 0.06 is well below the legal limit in every state. But, if you are under twenty-one it will make a difference. If your not, I would higher a lawer. It will probably cost you around the same as the fines imposed. But, you will be minus the conviction and points. Sounds like you have a strong case anyway.

I would ask my lawyer how quickly he returns calls. That's important when you have questions, and believe it or not, some don't call back or delegate the calls to others in the office.

As for the proceedings, as you were advised in the other thread, a good thing for you to do would be to go to the court one morning and watch. Anyone can sit there and watch. Not a big trial, just a typical morning in the courtroom. You'll see several DUI cases and that will give you a far better idea of what to expect than second hand experience.

I dont know if I'll get the time to do this cuz I work 9 to 5..five days a week :( I have to ask all type of questions to my attorney and see if he is really confident else I will have to move to another one. I already have signed the document that this attorney gave me and he has all the original papers that I got and gave me the copies. I dont know if he'll let me go to another attorney. I haven't paid anything to this attorney as yet!! I read his website and he doesnt seem to have DUI on his area of specialization but he told me that he won 16 of the 18 past DUI cases. Can I trust him on this? I just want this thing to be cleared off cuz I dont deserve it.

thanks,

any advice would be greatly appreciated,
