What happens with an LLC

What is the name of your state?NC
I am going to sue my ex for money I loaned him for his business. (I have a contract) It is a fairly large amount of money. I know he doesn't have that much money but he does have a LLC ( he owns 3 retail shops) and I was wondering if I could put a lien on that company or I could possibly get anything or am I out of luck?
