After fulfilling our lease completely, we were sent a bill for the carpet that they said needed to be replaced due to numerous stains. Nothing on the bill stated that any attempts to clean were made. My husband called Kim Maerz, the complex manager, and offered to settle the bill in good faith. The only way we could pay was with our credit card. She refused our payment, saying it had to be in the form of a cashier's check. I've heard that when someone refuses payment, then you are no longer responsible for payment. Is this true? Please hurry. We've now, six months later, been sent a letter from a collection agency.
Thank you, Wanda Wells
