I experienced two thefts in a short period of time. The first was when my car got broken into during a long trip. My homeowners policy covered a fair amount of what was missing. On my return home I found stereo, tv, and sterling gone. One of the forms sent to me by the insurance company gives them access to personal information (banks, lenders, etc.) To me this feels almost as invasive and violating as the thefts... I fail to see the relevancy of my bank accounts. I don't have anything to hide, it is just the principle of the thing that really bothers me. I don't think it is any of their business. I am sure they are looking for fraud, but my bank account and my integrity are two very different things. Is it even legal for them to require this information?
