What is the name of your state? Minnesota

Im divorcing my husband of 2 years, he owned the house before we were married. Ive been paying towards the mortgage each month, what portion of the house is legally mine?

Wouldn't you be paying to live WHEREVER you lived?

Likely the most you would get is a split of the equity that accrued DURING the marriage, as this was a premarital asset. So it the place was worth 225,000 and is now worth $250,00, for example, you might be entitled to $12,500, or 50% of the increase.

Its appreciation AND equity....which might even be less than 12,500..maybe even considerably less since there has been a bit of a downturn in the market.
