About a month ago I was arrested for shoplifting. I am only 17 and it was a dumb teenage mistake. The amount stolen was less then $200 so I think it was a misdemeanor charge. I was taken to the station for processing and what not. However, I was never sent to court, nor were there any fines. All I had to do was write a three page essay on why stealing is bad. I live in New Jersey if this makes a difference. What is on my record?

Thanks for the help

A shoplifting charge is on your record. What did you think?

The fact that you got off easy and only had to write an essay instead of paying a fine does not mean that the entire thing went away.
