Where does govt get its power?
The U.S. government gets its power from the people of the U.S.

ill eagle, FreeAdvice is not a discussion or debate forum (we answer legal questions) so you might find that another website is a better place for your question. Thanks.

sorry... was listening to family argue it. 1776 only about 20% of white men, the aristocrat population, could vote, so they (the people?) are who established constitutions? How does that implicate the 95% (80% of white men, all other men, women children) who were forbidden from participating?

The U.S. government, in fact gets it's power from it's citizens. The U.S. Constitution and the Articles of Confederation stipulate the role of Government as one who's citizens are represented by and who the citizens themselves elect. In short, you give Government it's power.

What are you getting at? All U.S. citizens 18 or over can vote. Yes. The Constitution has been amended as primitive ways of thinking were changed. But it's also very clear on what the role of Government is. If you are basing some deligitamization on the constitution based on the fact that there were less people in the then 13 colonies that were involved in the process. That is ludicrous.
