The owner of the company has been verbally abusive. He yells and screams at all of us, throws things throughout the office; breaking stuff. Says that if we cant do the job right, get out. When we confront him with what is wrong, he goes on again about nothing and breaking things, slamming doors and such. This last time, three of the women workers actually cried. There is nothing wrong with the orders or how any of us do our job. I think he may be bipolal or mental or something. In any case, is this against the law? I know we all have bad days, but this is nuts. Is this some type of verbal abuse or creating a hostile work enviroment? What legal actions, if any, do we have?

Thanks,
havQ

harassment

I have the same problem as you -- I've decided to look for a new job, but I'm wondering about my reference from my present boss -- he's so irrational, I don't know what he'll do -- I don't trust him even for a reference. I hope someone reads this and gives sound advice - a professional preferably. Until I hear otherwise, I will be going on interviews -- do I tell the new job the truth about my present boss -- or should I not say anything? Personally, I think these lunatics act abusively so that they can maintain some form of power over everyone. Respect and integrity mean nothing to these people -- they're the BOSS -- like it or leave it -- then again, this is merely my opinion. Please someone out there, what do we do?

My response:

Do any of you, or all of you, know (or can you guess) why none of you are receiving a response to your "desperate" situations ?

It's because NONE of you know how to follow directions or instructions.

There will be no assistance from me, and you'll more than probably just get anecdotal random thoughts - - if that.

. . . and no, I'm not going to tell you what you should already know from reading the instructions on this page (that's a hint).

NY -- are you implying that one of us needs a lawyer? Thank you, but since my last posting, I have resolved my problem. But what about the other 2 parties in this group? Have their dilemmas come to a conclusion? We'll see.

My response:

No, that's not what I'm implying. However, "anonyme", you did figure it out without realizing it - - you finally placed "NY" at the beginning of your last post.

Sorry about that. I was so upset about all that has been going on, I failed to include that.

I am in Missouri.

Thank you for letting me know about that.

I never received a reply on my post and I did state which State I am located in. My question was answered by the Wage and Hour Board. That was the first post, this second one hasn't been on here long enough to receive a reply. And before I get told to go visit attorneypages.com, I already did that. I also bought a few books and searched the web and researched the FMLA resources. Yes, I'm also trying to find an attorney. Actively.
