What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?Mo
I have some credit cards I have not been able to pay since I lost my job a few years ago. I am back working part time now. Everything my husband makes is going to keep us afloat sort of. Well one collections place has taken me to court. I tried to make payment arrangements but they said it was not enough money and they will not stop the interest. I showed up at court was told by the person that was there for the debt collector that I should call them at a phone number she gave me to see if we could make payment arrangements again. She had me sign a paper saying "Execution stayed until Nov 15, 2004. I have called and have been told once again that they will not stop the interest to the account. This time they said for 2 mos they would take what I said I could send but it would have to go up after that. She also told me after the interest only $5 would be going toward the balance.
My question beside whats the point of sending they anything if the balance is just going to keep going up. And the other one is what does this Execution stayed mean. Do I need to go back to court on the 15th. The person I spoke with is telling me no but I don't want to just default

Thanks

Basically the paper you signed placed a halt on making a final decision thru the courts on this account in question until date mentioned. My advice: Stop signing things without knowing full well what you are consenting or conceding to. Retain a lawyer. Yes, persons of limited income can receive legal aid and be represented .Call your local Bar association. They have decent referral programs.
As irritating as it is to see that most of your payments are going to interest fees, this too can be renegotiated if the lawyers are willing to concede on some matters. By the way, were you properly served?
