I was employed as the general manager of a health club, while also working there as a personal trainer and a group fitness instructor.
The group fitness director who is a female also, started telling people that I was not a good instructor and that they should not use me as a personal trainer.
She constantly went to the owners and tried to get me fired with accusations that they found to be completely un-true, even though they continue to let her work there. She would go out of her way to be aggressive, rude, and mean.
I honestly have no idea why she acts this way. I did not know her before working at this gym and have been working there since 2003. Prior to new owners in 10-04 we had no problems ( I did not work in a management position). She was let go by the previous owners for this kind of conduct with other women and then hired back when they were bought out.
Since I had to deal with her and her department I learned to form a thick skin and ignore it. I know that it cost me clients as a personal trainer and classes as an instructor. The owners turn their heads to this even though they admit that she is wrong. Two days ago she went into my office at night ( while another employee watched her) and completely ransacked it.Tearing all my pictures and personal items off the walls, tearing my name off my door and throwing most of them in the trash and taking other items with her; I suppose since they could not be found. She admitted all of this to the owner yet nothing was done.
I called her and ask her to please put my stuff back where it she found it and she threatened to call the police if I contacted her. I could no longer take this and left this job.
My question is should I press charges against her to have my personal items recovered?
Are there laws against this kind of behavior? I need my job and working as a personal trainer or fitness instructor rely on a lot of word of mouth advertising as well as references from co-workers in her position as fitness director.
